On 6 January 2025, saddent news came from JetBlue Airlines stating the two dead bodies were found in the landing gear compartment. Carey Codd, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said both of the individuals were men, though their identities have not yet been confirmed.

The JetBlue flight in which the dead bodies were found flew from New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, operating as flight 1801. The flight was an Airbus A320-232. The JetBlue flight landed at the airport around 11:03 p.m. on Monday, which is according to Flightradar24, an aircraft tracker.
Further to the statements, Arlene Satchell, a spokesperson for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, “said such an incident has not occurred at the airport in the six years she's worked there.”
In addition, this tragic incident is recorded as the second investigation launched by a US-based airline within a fortnight. However, previously, there was a body that was found on a United Airlines plane that had flown from Chicago to Maui, Hawaii, on Christmas Eve.
