Very recently, Ryanair issued a notice to avoid carrying Black, Navy, or Grey suitcases!! The notification was released against the backdrop of the existence of confusion at baggage carousels.
Ryanair has good statistics for providing its aviation services to around 19 million passengers in June with 106,000 flights and this led them to suggest fliers not to prefer packing their luggage in these notified colors.
These common colors lead to confusion at the airport, and passengers often exchange their luggage unintentionally with the other one. Ryanair emphasized its importance by stating:
"Make it easier to spot your checked-in luggage on the carousel, especially if your luggage is black, navy, or grey (like 99.9 percent of the population). Add a colorful luggage tag or ribbon to the handle so that there's no confusion on arrival. "
Counter Argument to the Ryanair Statement
To avoid any confusion at the airport baggage carousel, Ryanair recommends fliers avoid luggage of some colors, including black, navy blue, etc. Though it is beneficial for fliers to identify their luggage, nevertheless, the airport staff has responded in kind about this practice.
They said that adding a ribbon or tag for identification might be easy for travelers, but it can interfere with automatic scanners in baggage halls. Not only this, they even requested the travelers to remove the previous luggage stickers to avoid confusion during the screening process.
What is Ryanair's POV (Point Of View)?
With over a million passengers, Ryanair has urged passengers to avoid buying or carrying luggage in black, grey, or navy colors. They further stated that fliers must keep photocopies of their passports, driving lines, or other ID cards and email them to themselves for any emergency.
The airline may also consider adding a luggage tag to minimize the chances of baggage being lost.
Things to add to your Luggage Tags
1. Full Name.
First, you must incorporate the full name as it appears on your passport, which can help the ground luggage staff determine if the luggage belongs to you. (If it is lost).
2. Digits.
The second thing you must not forget to add is the mobile digits along with the country code for quick communication.
3. Email Address
You can add your email address to the luggage tags as an alternative contact option. This must be done during your International trips. It will help the team locate and inform you about your luggage.

1. Destinations
It is advised not to enter your preferred destination in the Luggage tags to avoid any hassle; through this, you can prevent the misuse of your information.
2. Personal Details.
These details include personal identification numbers, including passport numbers, national insurance, and other details on Luggage tags. Many can misuse these, putting you in jeopardy.
3. Residential Address.
You must avoid adding your home address to the Luggage tag to avoid hassle. With this, you can keep your information private and secure.
