Every airline has specific rules regarding baggage you can carry on board to maintain balance and safety. Air France also has a specific baggage policy that you should follow to avoid any last-minute hassle and organize and plan the items accordingly. The baggage policy is usually based on the cabin class you travel with, flight, and free rules. This article will focus on the baggage allowance for the Air France economy. You shall take a look to ensure you are meeting the baggage allowance criteria the airline has decided for you. So, let's begin:

Air France Airlines Baggage Policy - Economy Class

Here is the baggage allowance policy of Air France for economy class:

Carry-On

Air France allows its Economy passengers to carry one hand baggage and one personal item. The individual items include coats, shoulder bags, jackets, umbrellas, duty-free items, and children's accessories such as diapers, car bags, etc.

The maximum dimensions of the hand baggage, including the wheels, handles, and pockets, should be 55 x 35 x 25 cm or 21.7 x 13.8 x 9.9 in.

The maximum combined weight of your hand baggage and personal items should be 12 kg (26.4 lb), not more.

You are required to keep hand baggage in the overhead compartment above the seat.

Keep the personal item under the front seat if you sit in the exit row.

Your personal items must be placed under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin unless you are seated in an exit row.

Checked baggage

Economy Class passengers are allowed to bring 0 to 2 luggage items based on the ticket fare they choose. The maximum weight per baggage item is 23 kg / 50lb. You can also take apporval on weight online in case it is above the limit.

The dimensions of checked baggage should be a maximum of 158 cm/62.2 in. (L + W + H), including pockets, wheels, and handles.

Oversized Baggage Option

If your baggage exceeds the dimension 158 cm/62.2 in but is within 300 cm/118 in, you will have to pay additional charges based on the booking. When the baggage measures between 158 cm/62.2 in. and 300 cm/118 in, it will be dropped in the oversized baggage counter. If the dimension is more than 300 cm/118, it might be transported in the cargo.

Overweight Baggage Option

If the weight of your baggage is more than the approved weight limit, which is 23 kg / 50lb, but falls within 32 kg/70.5 lb., an additional baggage fee based on the trip will be applicable. You can check the prices by speaking to the airline.

Summary: When traveling with Air France, follow the baggage allowance policy listed above. You can carry one personal item and one handbag as a carry-on. The number of checked bags allowed is 0-2 based on the fare. Additional cost is applied in case the weight and dimensions exceed the permitted limit.
