On 26 September 2024, more than 1,000 flights to Florida were canceled and delayed due to Hurricane Helene. When Hurricane Helene approached Florida, many airlines across the USA canceled or delayed flights for the safety of the passengers.

According to the report, Southwest Airlines has canceled 201 flights, and Delta Airlines and American Airlines have also canceled their flights. Tampa International, Orlando International, and Fort Lauderdale International have alerted travelers to potential delays and cancellations. American Airlines has also issued a travel advisory for the passengers, encouraging them to stay updated on their flight status and plan according to Hurricane Helene.

As per the report of AP Hurricane Helene has intensified into a Category 4 storm, poised to make landfall on Florida’s northwest coast Thursday night. Forecasters warn of a potentially catastrophic storm surge and hazardous winds and rain affecting much of the southeastern U.S.

The hurricane's eye is approximately 90 miles south of Tallahassee, with sustained winds reaching 140 mph. It is moving north-northeast at 24 mph, and life-threatening storm surges are expected to hit the Big Bend area, potentially reaching up to 20 feet. Residents are urged to take precautions and stay informed. Given the situation, many airlines suggest that travelers stay at home and not plan any journey.

Upon asking Governor Ron DeSantis, he stated that updated models indicate Hurricane Helene may make landfall further east than previously predicted, reducing the likelihood of a direct hit on Tallahassee. The metro area, home to approximately 395,000 residents, could experience less severe impacts as a result. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely and urge residents to remain prepared.

On Wednesday, former Hurricane John reformed as a tropical storm in the Pacific and regained Hurricane status on Thursday. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador confirmed that the death toll from John has risen to five as communities along the Pacific coast brace for the storm's anticipated second landfall. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and prepare for severe weather conditions.

This weather condition has created a problem for people who are traveling from or to Florida. In that situation, to make it convenient for the travelers, the airlines suggest they check the flight status on their official website. For that you need to access the official link and select the flight status option. Fill out all the required information and click on the continue option. Details of the flight will be displayed on the screen. It will help you check the flight status and updates, and you can plan the trip accordingly.

When the Hurricane Helene arrived, the airlines cancelled over 1,000 flights in the US Florida. With emergency declarations in multiple states residents are advised to heed evacuation orders as the storm's destructive potential looms.

Airports across impacted regions such as Tampa International, Orlando International and Fort Lauderdale International have also put out posts on X, warning travelers of potential delays or cancellations.  Keeping in mind about the safety of the passengers, officials have issued the dire warnings and urged residents in coastal areas along the hurricane's path.
